Port question?

Alright well I have a box made of 3/4 mdf board at 16.5 x 18 x 20 for a Kicker cvx 12". I am not sure what size I should have to the port to tune it to the certain frequency the sub asks for. I called Kicker and the Representative told me to tune it to 41hz. But isn't that a little hit? He was telling me that it would be able to hit the lows and still hit the highs. Does this sound right to you guys? I want to make the port along the bottom of the wall so I don't actually have to make another box to go into the sub box.

  1. make it 3 inches or so in diamter

  2. If you really want to get into tuning, you will need some software to do the design work:

You will also need to get the Thiele-small parameters for the driver you are using. You will also need to know the air volume of your car, since that will affect bass response.

Or, you could just put the sub in the box and go enjoy the rest of the day. Once you are driving around, you probably won't notice the difference either way.
