  1. If the device has A/V inputs, then it is likely to allow gaming through it. The problem is they usually aren't built to have video input to them, but rather to output video. A quick look through even the high end ($250 and up) portable DVD players on Epinions show most of them only have composite video and analog audio inputs. So depending on the device you want to connect to it, you may need a special cable (A/V to composite) from Radio Shack to do it. As far as games, the only one Epinions says has built in games is the Coby TF-DVD560, with 12 built in Sega Genesis games.

  2. A portable DVD player with AV inputs can be used just like any monitor with AV inputs. That means you can input a Playstation or other games console to it.

I have seen portable DVD players with in-built games but they tend to be very poor games, think Atari 2600 quality.

The biggest problem facing most users who wish to use a portable monitor with a games console is that it makes the monitor non-portable.

If the intended use for the DVD player and games console is for the car then this may be overcome with an inverter, this will give you a wall plug style power output from a cigarette lighter port in a car. There are also other ways to power a console from car power but they can get tricky and may require some electronics knowledge.
