Portable drive installation on Win XP?

my computer cannot see new Seagram Free Agent Go 250 GB drive after what appeared to have been a successful installation. Tried it on another computer with same results. Please advise!

Did you check all the obvious stuff, like that you turned on the drive (most models have an on/off switch) and that both the USB and power cables are connected?  Also, if you have a spare, try a different USB cable (and for goodness sake, don't use an extension USB cable on a hard drive!).
