Portal problems, need help please!?

I bought portal (the game) today, installed it on my computer then at the first level when the first portal opened it froze HELP!!! i'm on a toshiba satellite lap top. my computer's processor is 1.73GHz and it has 504 MB of RAM. any helps or tips will be much appreciated

P.S it's just portal, it's not the orange box.

My guess is not enough ram or video card strength to run it.  Test your computer at http://www.canyourunit.com to see if you have any chance of playing it.
