  1. that depends

if u looking for a very deep bass with alot spl, then go for the ported box. this box always gonna give u 3 db more than the sealed box

or if u want a bass more ''dry'' (if u know wat i mean)

    then get the sealed box

    other thing:

the sealed box always is smaller than the ported, that may count for you

  2. if u want the trunk to pop open like a sardine can ported if u want quality sound sealed but i like ported

  3. Tough question. Some speakers can put out quality bass in a vented enclosure. I personally just switched to a 4.6 cubic ft. slot ported box from a small sealed enclosure, and there is a world of difference. I also listen to rap/ hip hop, and rock. I would say the thing of utmost importance is not going cheap as I have previously done. Go with no less than 3/4" mdf or hdf. Also THE VERY VERY  MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN DO IS: check the sub manufacturer's website and look at the recomended enclosure type(sealed or ported) and the nescessary cubic feet of space the box needs to play at its full potential. Also keep in mind that  the amp you have will make a huge difference for sound quality . so no xplod or legacy(please), or kenwood ect. spen the extra dough on a class d mono amp from alpine, JL, kicker ect.  and please feed them 10% over their rms rating so you don't have to turn the gain up 100% and fry your amp . DO these things:

1- Build or buy a box exactly for the specs of the subs

    2-Feed them enough quality power

    3-Use 2 gauge wiring

4- impress all the people on the AVENUE!!!

I hope this helped. IN short I would go with a ported box but that's just me.And no rock doesn' sound bad in a ported box.  Good luck buddy

  4. sealed all the way.

  5. If you want quality over sound....definately go with the sealed box mane. And rap music still sounds pretty good in a sealed box, it just won't be as loud as it would be in a ported box. But the bass always sounds better in a sealed....most people get ported boxes because they want to feel the vibration and they want it to be ungodly loud! lol. But I would definately go with the sealed box man. I hope this helps you out.
