Porterfield and Mortaza expect a competitive ODI series
Champions of the recently concluded ICC World Cricket League Division One, Ireland will face off the Bangali Tigers today in the first game of two-match ODI series. Captains of the both sides have anticipated a good game from both sides. Ireland is the leading emerging cricket team while Bangladesh has defeated the strong English team recently at Bristol.
Captain of the Bangladesh team Mashrafe Mortaza said that he is expecting Ireland to be an imposing opposition in the one day series. He said that back to back ODIs would be exciting ones. Mortaza has challenged his men to get ready for a competitive series by focusing on their form and fitness. Bangladesh’s win against England in the second ODI of the last week’s NatWest series was their ever first win against the English side in any format of international cricket.
His Irish counterpart William Porterfield also said that he is expecting the Bangali Tigers to come hard at his side during the two-match ODI series. Porterfield said that recent victory of Bangladesh against Strauss’s team in the second ODI at Bristol was not at all a surprise for him. He said that knows well that the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 team is capable of causing upsets against any team in any format of the game.
"It was certainly not a surprise, I know Bangladesh is capable of doing this any time," said the Irish captain. "They are a very balanced and experienced team and great competitors".
Though the Bangladesh side’s dream of series win against England did not come true after they were thwarted in the series decider by 144 runs but the victory at Bristol would remain a morale booster for the side that they can go for an upset anytime. Porterfield said that the Bangladesh team must have some unfinished business in their minds before they complete their summer tour of England, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scotland-c756. Porterfield is well aware of the Bangali team’s strategy as he said that he knows his opponents would try their best to come out of the lost series and will turn out to be a hard opposition. He further added that the Irish team would not let itself down in front of the home crowd and will play their best game to win the games.
"This is completely different series and I know Bangladesh will come out of that lost series and will come hard against us," Porterfield said. "We definitely won't let us down at home, we will play our best cricket and the better side will win the games."
Both the teams met for the last time in an International game in The 2009 World T20 Championship and the match was won by Ireland team. However the Ireland captain declined the impact of that victory on the recent ODI series. He said that though his side did well against Bnagaldesh in the near past but Mortaza’s men make a formidable opposition and to seal a victory against them would not be an easy job. Yet he was certain that his team will put up a good clash and was hopeful that the series would be great.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mashrafe-Mortaza-c1917 on the other hand said that although his side gave England a jolt but they would not take Ireland an easy prey. Mortaza said that he is well aware of the fact that Irish team is an emerging competitor.
"I'm sure Ireland will try their best to do in the world cricket," he said. "We need to play our best to outplay them in these two games".
The back-to-back ODIs will provide Ireland an opportunity to surpass Zimbabwe in the international rankings. Ireland if wins today’s match will level tenth place http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 on the Reliance Mobile ICC one-day international championship table.
