Portland Timbers destined to go places with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Jewsbury-c17457 on board – MLS news
It has been four months since Jack Jewsbury left http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sporting-89-c40576 Kansas City for Portland Timbers.
Prior to his move from the Wizards, playing only 17 of the 29 games, the player saw the fewest minutes on the field since his freshman season in 2005.
Admitting his to his weak performances for the outfit, the player staged a meeting with the Wiz management.
“I sat down with them probably two weeks before the trade actually happened, with coach Vermes and the staff there, and said, ‘Hey, if you don’t see me in one of your key positions, I know there are teams out there that would be interested in what I can
do,’” Jewsbury said on Thursday.
The management responded to the midfielder and made a transaction, sending him to the Timbers in exchange for allocation money.
New team opportunities soon presented themselves as the new club took the player on board.
Jewsbury performed spectacles in the preseason and the Timbers commended him with the captain’s armband. It has been a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 source of motivation for the midfielder, getting recognized for his feats and leadership on the field.
Where the overall team performance left a lot to be desired, Jewsbury did not disappoint with his personal statistics. The player has scored four goals so far this season to go along with six assists. In addition, Jewsbury has been destructive on set-pieces
as he has earned all of his assists on free-kicks.
It is not only the Timbers ownership who hold the player in high regards, but also the MLS management. There is a solid chance that Jewsbury will be taken for the MLS All-Star roster that faces Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United on July 27.
Should he be named, he would be the first Timbers signing to be inducted in the All-Star squad, and it would owe a lot to his dead-ball http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Skills-c40539.
This week is of foremost importance to the Missouri native as the Timbers face his former employers at Jeld-Wen Field; SKC are scheduled to visit Rose City on Saturday, July 2.
The player was excited for the upcoming fixture. While having respect for KC, Jewsbury plans to the end Timbers’ 5-game winless run.
“It was a good decision for them and myself to part ways,” Jewsbury said. “I have respect for them, respect for that organization, but it’s been a great time here in Portland so far.”
However, the first encounter with his former team comes with troubles. Lingering with hamstring injury, Jewsbury is among the probable players for the weekend match. Head coach John Spencer does not want to rush things for the player.
Currently nursing his sprain, the player took a shot of cortisone for rapid recovery, hoping to appear against the Wizards.
