Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts announces three new assistants
The Portland Trail Blazers have been going through a lot of changes in recent times.
They appointed Terry Stotts as their new head coach a short while ago. And now Stotts has announced the three people who are going to be assisting him in the coming season. Stotts confirmed the hiring’s of Jay Triano, David Vanterpool
and Kim Hughes as part of his team for the coming campaign.
Triano has prior experience of coaching in the NBA with the Toronto Raptors and had taken over as vice president of pro scouting. He took on the coaching responsibilities of the Canadian National team alongside Steve Nash.
Vanterpool not only brings with him the experience of being in the NBA but his learning from the overseas as he spent time playing and coaching for the Russian outfit, CSKA Moscow. Prior to his stint in Russia, Vanterpool had spent
a brief period of time playing for the Washington Wizards.
The final appointment was given to Hughes who has worked as an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Clippers and also had a brief stint as a head coach temporarily. Hughes’s other experiences in the NBA includes time with the Denver
Nuggets and Milwaukee Bucks.
San Antonio Spurs considering Buck Williams and Randy Livingston for assistant coaching position
San Antonio Spurs have lost two assistant coaches during the summer. First they lost Don Newman who took an assistant coaching job with the Washington Wizards and then lost Jacque Vaughn who has taken over the head coaching position
with the Orlando Magic.
This has left Gregg Popovich’s staff a little short handed for the coming season as Brett Brown and Mike Budenholzer are the only remaining assistant coaches with the team. However in order to be fully equipped for the coming season,
Popovich has been considering Buck Williams and Randy Livingston for the position.
Williams has prior experience of working as an assistant coach with the Portland Trail Blazers when he served under Nate McMillan and also had the opportunity to function alongside Kaleb Canales. On the other hand, Livingston has
spent the past two seasons serving as the head coach of D-League outfit, Idaho Stampede
