Portland Trail Blazers in search of new General Manager: NBA Update
The Portland Trail Blazers are in search of new candidate for their vacant post of general manger. The Blazers management has been in the hunt for the best man as the new GM of their franchise. Recently, the Blazers’ top executives
interviewed Troy Weaver for the vacant post. Troy Weaver is currently acting as an assistant general manager of Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Trail Blazers and Weaver have reportedly had a long conversation and although, no official statement has come in this regard, there have already been speculations about Weaver potential role with the Blazers franchise.
Weaver has vast experience in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He earned great acknowledgement when he worked with the Utah Jazz for almost four years in the capacity of personnel director and team scout. He gradually
climbed as an intelligent executive of their franchise. Soon, he was well recognised in the league and received many offers form different teams. In 2008, Weaver finally joined the Oklahoma City Thunder and is now working with them as an assistant general
manager.
Weaver’s arrival will certainly make the Portland Trail Blazers more efficient. The Blazers however are also reported to be in contact with the San Antonio Spurs’ assistant general Manager Dennis Lindsey. Although, both parties
have not met in personal but a telephonic discussion has been in process.
The Trail Blazers president Larry Miller wants someone who can run the functions of the franchise smoothly and recently also expressed his desire to bring former Golden State Warriors general manager Chris Mullin into the Blazers
front office.
The Blazers will however take their time and will dig deep into every candidate’s strengths and weaknesses. The lockout in the league is also helping the Blazers, because with no solution to the Collective Bargaining Agreement
in sight, they can now take their time in making the choice.
