Portland Trail Blazers miss 20 3-pointers, still top Toronto Raptors 92-74: NBA Recap
The Portland Trail Blazers set the NBA record of poorest showing from the three point land, going 0 out of 20 from distance, and still won the game by 18 points, rolling past the Toronto Raptors 92-74 here at  Rose Garden on Monday
night.
The previous league record for lowest scoring from the three point range was held by the New York Knicks back in 2010 against New Jersey Nets.
“I know -- we broke the record. For that record to be broken in a win is even more impressive." Portland coach Terry Stotts on the victory, despite the Blazers going 0 of 20 from behind the arc.
LaMarcus Aldridge was the MVP for the Blazers as he scored 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds; J.J Hickson also posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, going 7 of 7 from the field.
"Wow. I didn't know that. We didn't make no 3s tonight→ that’s crazy. I wish I'd have shot one. I'd have probably made it." Hickson commented after the game.
DeMar DeRozan once again led the Raptors with the team high 20 points, Ed Davis came off the bench to add 14 points and haul down 9 rebounds as Kyle Lowry only managed a single point in his 17 minutes on the court. His stay was
cut short due to an injury.
Andrea Bargnani made a jump shot early in the quarter to put the Raptors up 9-8. It was pretty close throughout the quarter with the score getting tied on 16 later on. The Blazers were trailing 18-19 at the end of the period.
The Raptors kept the Trail Blazers in check for most of the second quarter. The score was tied on 38 at one stage; but Portland upped their scoring in the later part of the period and headed into the locker room leading 44-40.
DeRozan scored a jumper 13 seconds into the second half to reduce the deficit down by two. But Trail Blazers shifted gears and started pulling ahead - a 9 nil spurt had them leading by 58-46. They pushed their lead to 64-50 with
3:06 minutes in the period when the Raptors turned their damage mitigation mode on to slash the deficit to 59-64 by the end of the quarter.
It was a 7 point game on 68-75 for the Raptors with 6:30 on the regulation but the Blazers blew away their hopes by racing to a 16 point advantage with 3:38 left to go and from there on, there could have been only one winner.
