Portland Trail Blazers beat Golden State Warriors 93-91- NBA Recap
After a sensational game that kept on shifting momentum till the last minute, the Portland Trail Blazers grasped their 5th victory on the road as they edged out the Golden State Warriors 93-91 on Wednesday.
The Trail Blazers were paced by Gerald Wallace, who netted 24 and had 6 rebounds;forward Nicolas Batum had 17 points and reserve Jamal Crawford scored 14. Marcus Camby was the only player in team to deliver a double-double with
12 points and 11 rebounds. Raymond Felton was the last player to hit double figures with 10 points.
Portland had a better shooting rate from the charity stripe as compared to the Warriors; they shot 88.2% while the Warriors netted 75.0% from the free throw line. However Golden State shot well from the floor 47.4% while Trail
Blazers netted only 40.5%.
With the lead changing hands 9 times to go along with 9 score ties, the game had many twists and turns and it kept the spectators to the edge of their seats till the last moment.
Warriors opened the 1st quarter with a 7-0 run. Portland answered that with three consecutive 2 pointers scratching off the lead to one point. Things though didn’t remain close as Warriors came up with another 7-0 run
pushing them further to 14-6 lead. The game remained tightly contested afterwards as both teams kept on scoring till the last moments of 1st frame. Warriors were in the lead at the end, 27-20 score.
With another 8-3 run from the start of 2nd period Golden State established their grip on the game with a 35-23 lead. Paced with flurry of freebies and layups Trail Blazers rallied for a huge 17-7 run with 05:48 in hand
that reduced the deficit to 2 points with, 42-40 score.
At 04:35 left in 2nd quarter, the game was tied at 44 each, and with a pair of 3-pointers from Wallace, Portland took the lead at 50-46. They added 7 more points while the visitors netted 8 before the buzzer to make
it 57-54 at halftime.
The game witnessed its lowest scoring frame after half time, as Portland netted 15 and Warriors scored 16 in the 3rd period.
With a 6-0 run in the start of 3rd stanza Golden State ate away the lead and went ahead, 60-57. But, the Trail Blazers hit back with a 7-4 run in the middle of the quarter to turn it into their favour with a 72-70 advantage.
The last 2 minutes of the segment went scoreless.
With an early 9-4 run, the Warriors raced to a 79-76 advantage, but the Trail Blazers came back to tie the game at 81 in the eight minutes. Warriors scored five on a trot, taking a slender lead of 86-81 in the following passage
but the Trail Blazers again rebutted that with a 7-2 run, tying the score once again at 88 apiece.
It all came down to the last minute as, with a Crawford 3-pointer, Portland gained a 91-90 lead. Then with Dominic McGuire’s foul, Crawford was placed on the charity stripe and he drained his couple of freebies, scoring the final
points of the game and handing Portland the victory.
David Lee was on song for Golden State as he netted the game high 29 and had 11 rebounds; guard Nate Robinson scored 21 coming off the bench and Dorell Wright had 12 points and 5 boards while Monta Ellis recorded 10 points on the
night.
