Porto President http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pinto-c30032 da Costa: Players will only be sold if their release clauses are met
Following the move of Andre Villas-Boas to Chelsea, Porto President Pinto da http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Costa-c9458 has declared that a player’s sale will only be conducted if the suitors trigger the buyout clause.
"If there are contracts with release clauses, we have to be prepared that some player might want to leave if the stipulated figure is met."
"But I will not go to any country to negotiate.”
"Just like it happened with Andre Villas-Boas, there will be no talks: there is an account number and money deposited there,” he said.
The departure of Villas-Boas comes as a shock to many, as only a month ago he lifted an unprecedented haul of the UEFA Europa League, Portuguese Primeira Liga, Portuguese Super Cup and Portuguese Cup.
The catalysts for that success were Hulk and Falcao, who netted a jaw dropping 74 goals between them last season and their transfer could really hurt the enviable position of the Champions.
But the Portista Supremo says that he will let any player leave, provided that the interested club pays the full amount on the player’s contract.
With the exodus of the ‘Special One’, persistent rumours have been circulating linking the star duo of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Radamel-Falcao-c30276 to follow in his footsteps to Chelsea.
But Da Costa claims that no one has approached the Lisbon outfit for any offers for the pair.
"We have not had any contact about the transfer of players and we do not know the intention of any one of them to leave."
Although Falcao’s transfer could well materialize in the course of the summer, Hulk’s move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 or any other club for that matter will probably scupper due to his €100 million price tag.
But for Falcao, the allure of playing alongside the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 and regularly challenging for titles at the highest level could prove to be too tempting.
The futures of the Estadio do Dragao pair will be decided in the coming weeks and whether they join Chelsea or stay at Porto is only a game of time.
