Porto close in on Eliran Atar; Rui Patrício claims Sporting Lisbon are stronger than last season
Dragons close to signing Eliran Atar from Maccabi Tel Aviv
FC Porto are reportedly close to signing Eliran Atar from Israeli side, Maccabi Tel Aviv, after offering €4 million transfer fee and a four-year contract to the player.
Atar started his career with Bnei Yehuda and worked his way up the pecking order at the club. He made his debut in the 2004 season but rose to prominence in 2009, after he netted a breathtaking overhead kick goal, which was also a contender for the Puskas
award.
After impressing several clubs in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Israel-c2925, he finally signed for Maccabi in 2010 but his stint looks to be coming to an end after Portista scouts filed ravenous reports on the 24-year-old and urged the hierarchy to acquire his services.
The forward is seen as replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Radamel-Falcao-c30276, who is thought to be a target of major European clubs following an incredible season in which the Columbian found the back of the net 39 times. English giants Chelsea are allegedly eyeing the attacker
and are prepared to offer big money despite the 25-year-old having recently penned a new deal with the Dragao.
Whether Atar can find his scoring touch in the Portuguese Primeira Liga remains to be seen, but the 24-year-old will have huge boots to fill if he is to match the goalscoring feats which Falcao achieved at Estadio do Dragao.

However, the Portuguese International has now claimed that his side have improved and will be even stronger in
the next campaign.
"It is logical that this year is different. Every year we work to achieve the main objective which is the title, but everyone sees that this year we are strong and, God willing, things will go well for our side.” He was quoted as saying.
