Portsmouth complain over missed Boateng payment
Championship side Portsmouth has complained to authorities after Italian outfit Genoa failed to pay their first instalment for the transfer of Kevin-Prince Boateng. Boateng moved to Genoa
last month, but according to Sky Sports News, the Serie A side still hasn’t paid the initial
£1.3m that was due on September 5.
Portsmouth is apparently furious at the delay in payment, and Genoa is claiming that it is just an administrative error, and that they simply just had the incorrect bank account details
for the transaction. But Pompey feels that they are on the wrong end of a misdemeanour, and are reportedly questioning Genoa's honour over the deal.
Indeed, Pompey is hardly the saint of football right now, following their administration earlier in the year, which included countless missed or delayed payments to various football clubs.
In fairness, the transfer fee for Boateng is no doubt needed to fund the CVA agreed with the club’s creditors, where the south coast club needed the £12-15m in player sales.

Boateng’s sale was rumoured to be around the £6m mark, but it is being paid in monthly instalments. The next instalment is due October 5, so Pompey will want the matter sorted as quickly
as possible.
Curiously, Boateng’s move to Genoa was immediately followed by him being farmed out on loan to AC Milan, where he is currently plying his trade. Having starred at the World Cup finals
with Ghana, Boateng’s stock rose considerably, and with Pompey relegated from the Premier League in May, he had his eye on a big summer move. He will be remembered for, more than anything, his penalty miss in the FA Cup final back in May, where he squandered
the chance to give underdogs Portsmouth a vital lead against red-hot favourites Chelsea.

Pompey went on to lose the game 1-0, in a match where Boateng also injured Germany captain Michael Ballack, much to the fury of his nation of birth, Germany. It seems debate arises wherever
he goes.
