  1. We took a Uniworld river cruise on the Douro River, through the port wine region of Portugal.    The tour started in Lisbon and incl a tour of Lisbon, then bus to Oporto.    We spent 7 nights on a river boat and then returned to Oporto for our flight home.

As part of the cruise we visited Salamanca, Spain.   We broke up the trip home with some nights in Madrid.

We enjoyed the trip very much.    Just as an fyi, we love to cruise and have cruised everything from 3500 pax ships to 16 pax boats.

  2. I didn't realize there were any rivers that were that navigable in Iberia!  I thought the only one was the Guadalquivir, which doesn't run through Portugal at all.

HMMM  I'll have to look into that...sounds like a great tour!

  3. I like the boat ride that goes up the Duero river from Miranda do Douro (portugal). The river goes right up the border between the two countries. It's an ecological trip, they give you binoculars to check out the falcons and eagles etc.  Very fun, even if you are not into birds. http://www.europarques.com/
