The Germany coach hails the Portuguese side and admits that they will give his team a tough time.
Die Mannschaft face Portugal in their first fixture of the 2012 European Championship. Ahead of the game, the German coach has joined in the mind games. Joachim Low’s men will look to bounce back from their losses to Switzerland
and France. The Iberians, on the other hand, will be looking to avenge their 3-2 quarter final defeat by Germany.
Low, however, has warned his troops not to underestimate Paulo Bento’s men. Who he believes have so many quality players in their ranks and are well equipped to beat any side in the world.
"Portugal have the capacity to defeat any side, they have very good players, who play at big clubs,” he is quoted as saying in an interview.
Portugal are led by their captain Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been in tremendous form. The striker scored around 60 goals in 55 games for his club, and the German gaffer knows the tricky forward will give his shaky defence a lot
to think about.
CR 7 is not A Seleccao’s only threat, Die Nationalelf head coach thinks players like Nani and Pepe who have had impressive domestic campaigns are more than capable of troubling his side.
"Cristiano Ronaldo is fantastic and can decide a match on his own, but they also have other players like Nani and Pepe," he added.
The head coach further analyses Portugal’s chances, and tips them to reach the latter stages of this tournament like they have done in previous years.
“They have gone far in these tournaments. They have excellent players,” he further added.
The German team, which consists of a lot of young players, is bookies’ favourite to dethrone Spain. In order to do that they have to qualify from their Group which includes the likes of Netherlands, Portugal, and Denmark.
Joachim Low has a lot talented players at his disposal, who are more than capable of fulfilling their favourites tag if they sort out their defence and play like they did in the 2008’s European Championship.
