Portuguese International Junior Championships: Elizaveta Tarasova claims Women’s Singles title
Russia’s upcoming shuttler Elizaveta Tarasova displayed her incredible skills in the arena and remained successful in winning Women’s Singles title at 4th Portuguese International Junior Championships 2012 on Sunday, December 2, in Portugal.
In the final match, the in-form Elizaveta showed a spectacular performance against Croatia’s Maja Pavlinic in a striking fashion by consuming just 31 minutes on court.
The impressive Russian shuttler, who was un-seeded in Women’s Singles main draw in the championship, showed a strong character in the final battle and managed to end up the fight in straight sets with a completely dominating margin.
On the other hand, the fifth seeded Maja who failed to continue her impressive run in the final battle and remained struggling all the way. She lost the final encounter in a vulnerable fashion without even getting close to her Russian rival.
In the first game, the Russian executed powerful shots in gaps and stayed in commanding position in the opening rallies.
Russian lady displayed her remarkable skills on court and remained successful in taking a strong position by setting up an early lead.
Until the one-minute interval, the lofty Elizaveta remained consistent on court and remained successful in setting up a comfortable lead on score board.
The higher ranked Maja failed to put up strong resistance at any stage as she could not cope up with the mounting pressure.
After the break, the lower ranked Elizaveta stayed calm and composed in her play and remained positive all the way that helped her to secure the opening game with a crushing 21-15 score on the board.
In the following game, the Croatian shuttler tried her best to control the pace of rallies but she failed to create any pressure on her lower ranked Russian challenger who was in staggering form on court.
In the meanwhile, Elizaveta stayed in commanding position in the arena by playing aggressive and controlled badminton and remained successful in winning the second game with a spectacular margin of 21-10.
The in-form Elizaveta emerged victorious in this title match as she managed to end up the final encounter against Maja in straight games by a striking margin of 21-15 and 21-10.
