Nonetheless, Diawara’s talents did not go unnoticed in Europe and eventually Sevilla acquired the forward after he agreed to pen a 4 ½ deal at the helm. But the move was not without controversy, as a war of words ensued between the two concerned clubs.
Maritimo claimed that the Spanish outfit had signed the player without their consent while his contract at the side had not yet expired. The Liga Sagres giants even released a statement on their website declaring the transfer illegal.
