Posen Volleyball team clinch success in season opener – Volleyball News
The Michigan Posen Girls’ Volleyball team demonstrated a stellar performance under the command of Head Coach Erin Riopelle and held off Arenac Eastern Team for a 3-1 victory. They claimed the first two sets by sending 25-19 and 25-15 on to the board. The
opponents resisted and took away the third set (17-25) but Posen Girls’ were back on the winning path in the fourth set and scored 25-21 victory. The improved floor movement and transition on defence and offence allowed the Posen squad to enjoy the wonderful
victory over their opponents.
Paige Kuffel, Korynn Hincka and Emily Delekta actively participated in hitting the ball into their opponents half. They attacked from different angles and collected three kills apiece. On the other hand, Anna Couture did a great at passing and added seven
assists.
Girls’ around Riopelle followed an organised plan and opened the game with a display of fine serves. They took little time to settle down in their positions and made their presence felt on the court. Arenac Eastern side had some good hitters but Posen Girls’
were uniquely positioned to dig the difficult shots. They offered solid blocking to their opponents’ spikes and saved many crucial points. They formed better combination and responded to the rivals aggressively. The score shifted up with close gap in the early
phase of the game but Posen Team gradually earned the better status. They put up a spirited effort and edged out Arenac Eastern in first set 25-19.
The second set was another win for Posen as the players continued with the same momentum. However, the Arenac squad hit back strongly in the third set and created trouble for Riopelle’s team. Posen Girls dropped the third set but came up with strong offensive
attack in fourth set. They played fast and quickly covered the length of the fourth set. Arenac Eastern could capture only one set in the match and accepted defeat.
"They looked a lot better than they did when we were over in Hale. It was almost a complete 180. Everything that I went over with them yesterday and pounded into their heads, they did today. It was fantastic." said Riopelle. She further added: "I think that
even though Hale was a loss, they still played really well. It was their first match of the season. This game today we worked out those kinks that we had against Hale.”
