Hi, I just want to inquire what are the qualifications to stay in base often.

I don't really like traveling a lot and I would love to know how I can stay in the base most of the time.

If I join the Navy as a filmmaker (I don't really know what to call it, I'll go for anything that's related to media), would I have to go onboard a lot?

I don't really know anything about the Military (Navy or Airforce only), but I'm into it right now and I just don't want to travel a lot. So I'm making sure that I'm not gonna go on water often nor travel often. I wanna keep a safe line of communication with my family and my girlfriend. I want to know how I could keep in touch with them everyday just to make sure everything's ok.

In the Airforce, how often can I go home? I mean, how often can I go home and check up on my parents and how often can I take a leave? for how long can I take a leave?

  1. When you enlist you sign a contract that says you go when and where they tell you. You get 30 days a year leave. Your "film maker" would come under journalism. Pay scale below

  2. No matter which service you choose, there is no guarantee you won't be shipped somewhere even temporarily.

The military will expedite getting citizenship. However, not being a citizen may prevent you from working in certain fields.

In the Navy, you can fill out a "dream sheet" listing 3 places you want to be stationed at. There is no guarantee that you will get them. It's based upon Navy needs first.

  3. Base pay for E-1 in all services is $1347 a month... but you may qualify for and recieve any of a number of susbsitance/housing allowances...

As for what service...   I'm really not sure the service is for you....   h**l, the Navy's motto used to be "join the Navy and see the world"...  if your number one priority is staying home... then do that... stay home and don't join the service........
