Two days ago, I got a positive HPT (first response with FMU), it was faint but there. Then today (at 4:30) I had a urine test at the doctor's and it came back negative. I'm so confused! I thought a positive was.. a POSITIVE! ?? She sent me to get a blood test done and I get the results tomorrow. Has anyone had or heard of this happening? Is it possible that i'll get a positive blood test or just lose hope?

Thank you all in advance.

  1. Yeah it's happened to people before! You probably are. Good luck

  2. I think this happens a lot. Sometimes, the doctor's office tests are not as sensitive at the test you take at home. Every test has different sensitivity levels. So, your home test shows up positive, then the dr office test is negative. The blood test should show positive if you are truly pregnant.

  3. No urine test are 100% accurate.  A blood test will tell you if you are or are not pregnant.  You'll need to wait until tomorrow.

I hope it's the news you want!

  4. It had happened to me in April...I had a positive HPT, and doctors urine and blood test was negative.  She said that it very well could've been a chemical pregnancy but she couldn't really determine that as I didn't have any traces in blood test. (chemical pregnancy is like an early miscarriage that many women...unless you are trying to conceive...usually take as a late period).

Another reason could be that your urine was more diluted in the afternoon and the first urine's test was correct.  you will know more with the blood test...as it is more accurate. Good luck and lots of baby dust to ya!! (and me and all the others ttc)!!

  5. HPT's with the lines cause more confusion than they give answers.  Next time use a digital.  It's possible the blood work will be positive, it's also possible it could be negative.  Just hang tight.

  6. Morning urine tests are more concentrated than those done in the afternoon, so this may account for something.  Usually tests done at the Dr's. (urine) are pretty much the same as the ones you can buy over the counter.  The blood test will be the most accurate.

Good luck, I hope the outcome is what you desire.

  7. i think you are pregnant, congrats! let us know what the outcome is, and yes it is possible. good luck and very very very sticky baby dust.

  8. You probably are. The test done in the afternoon wont be as effective as morning  and since you had a faint morning one, the afternoon one probably wouldn't show up.

    Good Luck

  9. yes the hormone isn't high enough and they didn't get your first urine of the day... take another one in the morning and wait for the blood test

  10. It is possible that the test at the doctors office was less sensitive than your one. The blood work will clear up the confusion.

  11. Happens a lot sometimes due to error on the office test- and sometimes due to the fact you can be pregant (early on) but your body is getting ready to menstrate- and then voids the potential pregnacy
