Question:

Positive HPT followed by 3 negatives...?

Yesterday about midday, I did a First Response very sensitive HPT. It came out positive and I was really happy. I wanted to be sure so this morning with my first wee I took another test (exactly the same sensitive test as before). It was negative. I was gutted so I tried a clear-blue digital one and that was also BFN. I am 12 DPO and have never had a Luteal Phase past 10 days in the 7 months we have been TTC (apart from one which was 13 days). So I am still hopeful but cant help feeling disheartened by my negatives and also why didn't the sensitive test I took with my first morning pee show a positive like it did the day before because surely my HCG levels were higher today than yesterday? Where has my precious baby gone! AF is due on Tues. For the last few days I have had an uncomfortable pain in my left side. I am worried that something horrible is happening. Does anyone have any success stories like this to keep my faith??? Baby Dust *****x*x*****

  1. I would honest go see your doctor or straight to the hospital and they will tell you if you are preg immediately. urine or blood.

  2. call the dr for a test.  sometimes home test are not the most acurate

  3. Ok, this is a serious subject, so just remember that you're only getting opinions, not facts.  First, you said your luteal phase is never longer than 10, you're at 12DPO now, but your period isn't due til Tuesday?  I'm a little confused about that.  If you could clarify, that might help.

Again, just a possible opinion, but if you have a luteal phase of 10 days, it can be hard to stay pregnant.  That's usually what people get on Clomid and see specialists for, because 10 days doesn't always allow time for an egg to implant.  It's possible that the egg implanted, but didn't stick.

You don't hear about false positives very much, especially with First Response (very reputable company).  If you're getting negatives with FMU right now....I'd say take another one tomorrow, and if it's negative, you can always go see your doctor.  Maybe the positive was an evaporation line?  Or maybe it was mental?  I know that sounds silly, but I was sure I saw a faint positive a few months ago, only to be BFN the next day and the rest until AF came.

I don't want to be a downer, so I hope you are in fact pregnant!  However, if AF does come this month, and you really have a 10 day luteal phase....go see a doctor.  They can help increase your chances of conceiving!

Best of luck and LOTS of baby dust!
