Positive Input Please?

I have bi-polar, obsessive compulsive, anxiety disorder, insomnia and adhd.

I am going a little crazy with my life. I work 7 days a week about 56 -60 hours depending. I can't sit still so working all the time seems to help. I also have not slept normally in a couple of years or so. I believe the stress is finally taking over my life. I recently acquired my 2nd ulcer, which I'm just thrilled to welcome another.

What I really need is ways to de-stress. With out quitting one of my jobs or taking medication.

Medication is not an option, I have refused all thus far.

I have learned to some what balance my moods out and control my mind some what. I still have some manic and depressive episodes rather frequently however I prefer to keep moving and ignore them.

So anyone with positive feedback on relaxation for people with my conditions I'd love to hear them.

PS- Do not tell me I need Jesus/God. I'd like something with a little rational thought to it.

  1. Try exercise, walk, run, swim. It's a good way to let your mind relax. especially early evening or shortly before bedtime.

  2. Try breathing and mindfulness exercises - they help me a lot when I'm stressed out.

  3. Try meditation. It's more about looking inside yourself than anything else, and I've heard it's a great de-stresser. Also, you can try getting a massage, or going to a day-spa.

  4. hmm very interesting, i am exactly in the opposite boat, i have tried about 10 different kinds of meds, had 4 hospitalizations and just had ect, but i am glad that you have managed to stay clean off of all meds, etc. cuz i dont feel too different, although i havent given myself enough time to recover, i still think even if thoughts might not be under my control, my actions are. at this point i can't totally be against meds but i am not for it either, so i am happy that you have managed to control your mental health. so not to get to the point, can you get a 2-3 days or week vacation from your job? go somewhere, forget everything and relax, weathers pretty good for that too, i would guess you would probably be good for another 2 years after that. If a psychiatrist saw my answer they would probably call me ignorant/immature but it doesnt matter till they can fill my shoes. so to sum it up..mini-vacation? work out? hobbies that help relax such as an instrument or art. etc? i guess just try to add stuff you like to do here and there, goodluck!! 5 salutations to you! or however that phrase goes
