Question:

Positive and negative speaker wire question...?

Alright well aparently the people at saturn dont like to wire all there speakers with the same color wires and the wires they use dont have a positve or negative marking on them. all they are, are 2 diffrent colers one is always darker then the other though.

my problem is i cant figure out which one is which is the darker wire the negative or the brighter color?

Oh and if your wondering the colors are bright green and dark green.

  1. Wrong above. Rule of thumb in Gm vehicles. Dark colors are positve in the rear and negitave in the front. So the dark colors are going to be positive for the rear 2 speakers and negitave for the front 2 speakers.


  2. Usually dark wires are negatives, and bright colors are positives, but saturn is weird like that -so are some others, otherwise it's always black and red; black-negative; and red+positive...

  3. almost every car ive changed the speakers in does that. the darkest is 98% of the time the negitive and lightest is positive

  4. Standard wire colors for GM:

    Left front:  tan (+), gray (-)

    Right front:  light green (+), dark green (-)

    Left rear:   brown (+), yellow (-)

    Right rear:  dark blue (+), light blue (-)

  5. you know i do not know the answer, but what i can tell you is Kaezoo knows his ****, i would trust his answer. if there was a game show on car audio, i would want kaezoo as my "phone a friend"
