Positive discrimination is it a good thing for society?

If the end result is equality, yes.  If there is discrimination acting against a group, then positive reverse discrimination is needed to even the playing field.  One might think that women no longer face discrimination, until you read the posts on this forum to see how many men there are who still secretly hate women and think men are naturally superior.

basically anything that favours women is seen as POSITIVE and not discrimination

women doing better in health, education, law etc due to neglecting men and underspending and action on mens issues is seen as a GOOD thing yet sexist FEMinist think it is horrible when it occurs to women

I was quick to say never,but then I thought of someone I work with who is 74 years old. They can be caught dozing throughout the day. They have trouble keeping up, duh.

Hope I will retire long before that time comes.

If it is a term that means we will find the best we can find in any endeavor without regard for anything other than it's ability to perform the task we require, then yes I support that.  It is a positive thing to find the best of the best.

If that is another term for Affirmative Action I don't support that.

In a free market economy, you should be able to hire and not hire anyone you as you please.... you have a product, and a targeted clientèle... I am a guy, and hooters would never hire me... and for good reason.  As a guy if I saw me serving at hooters, I would never go back... Oddly enough, I have never been to a hooters.
