Positive hpt follows by 3 negatives? :( ?

Question

Yesterday about midday, I did a First Response very sensitive HPT. It came out positive and I was really happy. I wanted to be sure so this morning with my first wee I took another test (exactly the same sensitive test as before). It was negative. I was gutted so I tried a clear-blue digital one and that was also BFN. I am 12 DPO and have really never had a Luteal Phase past 10 days in the 7 months we have been TTC (apart from one which was 13 days). Why didn't the sensitive test I took with my first morning pee show a positive like it did the day before because surely my HCG levels were higher today than yesterday? Where has my precious baby gone! AF is due on Tues. For the last few days I have had an uncomfortable pain in my left side. I am worried that something horrible is happening because I have had a tiny bit of yellowy/brown discharge this afternoon! AF on her way?. Does anyone have any success stories about BFPs followed by BFNs which did end in a beautiful baby to try to keep my faith??? Baby Dust *****x*x*****

I am not tryng to disappoint you.The same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago and I am not pregnant.If you really want to know you could take a blood test.It also may just be to early to test.God luck and baby dust to you

that's exactly what's going on with me. i took a test on tuesday and it was positive. i had spotting so i had a blood test that came back positive. now today i had 3 negative ones. the only thing i can suggest is to call the doctor. my doctor ordered a blood test over the phone, i didn't even have to go in. now they are re-testing on wednesday to make sure the HCG levels actually went up. from what i've read, though, it sounds as if it may have been a chemical pregnancy. so i'm worried.

but what i would do if i were you is to take another home test tomorrow morning. whatever the results, call the doctor tuesday and ask for a blood test to confirm a positive HPT followed by negative ones.

Sounds to me like a chemical pregnancy.  This is where the egg is fertilized, but does not implant for whatever reason, then you have a normal period.  I have done a little bit of research on chemicals (I had one myself the cycle before I got pregnant), and apparently 25% of all pregnancies are chemicals and go unnoticed, usually just a late period and a little heavier than usual.  The only downside to early HPT's is that if you do test before your period and get a positive, then you can still get your period and be upset with the outcome.  

I really hope I am wrong for your sake, but the hCG in your system should be doubling every 24-36 hours, so your latest test should be positive.  I have my fingers crossed for you.
