Positive preg tests 4 days ago.. Blood test negative today!?

Question

I had two positive tests a few days ago. I feel pregnant. And my period is late.

However last night I did a test, Negative. So as I work in hospital I asked for a blood test.

now why is it negative all of a sudden? They couldnt understand because even if i had missacarried the test would still show positive.

The tests that said pregnant were the 4 day before your period.

The negative tests were the day after your missed period.

so whats right? Not pregnant?

To be honest I don't know, but why don't you just wait and see and have a suprsie.... mind you, i do that every month and get upset when I'm not.

leave it a week and do another test?

i always thought a line was a line so ya i'd say with 4 positives your deffo pregnant maybe the test you took last night was faulty or because you had taken it on the night had been diluted by drinking water etc try taking first thing tomorrow but the blood test will tell you for deffo anyway but i wound't worry as you are quite right when i miscarried it still showed up 21/2 weeks later good luck

im not sure as a blood test should show a result sooner than a urine test, however there must be a reason why you had so many positive results before the blood test...have you done another urine test since the blood test? i would also get a test done with my gp if i was you, at your surgery rather than at work then it will be confidential and noone you work with will find out youre ttc . hth

TTC?

it is possible to have a false negative, but not a false postivie.

The hospital did one and said negative whereas the day after a test from the £1 (and you got 2 in a pack!) said positive, and when i complained they said it was quite common and that you could have false negative but not false positive.

id suggest you are...unless there was a period of spotting/bleeding between the first 2 and the last test.

obv the hospital didnt tell you the result of the blood test or you wouldnt still be asking but id imagine thats the best way to be certain.

Go to the Doctor and get a Quantitative Blood test. thats the most accurate you could get!!!

Surely the best place to get an answer is the docs or as you work in a hospital, from there??

when i found out i was pregnant i told my midwife i had done 3 tests n she said there was no need, because apparently you cannot have a false positive just a false negative.
