Positive pregnancy test too early

Question

Hi! I tested positive last night and this morning on a preg test. It is 5 days before my missed period. I read that when you get a positive result before you miss your period that it is most likely a chemical pregnancy (meaning it is a fertilized egg and will most likely not stick) I was really disappointed when I read that. I had no idea you were supposed to test before your period, even with those (5 days before missed period) ...have you ever heard of that? Do you think I am preg or should I wait till after I miss my period. I'll be fine if I am not, I just don't know what to think, thanks!!! :)

I wish i could tell you what you have read online is wrong but i have just experienced a miscarriage. I tested at 16DPO (1 day before my period) and got a positive. I started bleeding at 1 weeks late. But by no means am i saying you are not pregnant. I'm sure you will be fine and go on to have a healthy pregnancy! Goodluck!

No, not at all!  If you get a positive pregnancy test, you are pregnant!  A chemical pregnancy usually happens w/o us knowing about it.  However, these early tests sometimes help us find out about them when we normally wouldn't.  There's nothing wrong with testing before your period.  Most women don't get a positive that early, but many do.  The negative to testing that early is that you could get a really early positive, and then end up getting your period....that's what a chemical pregnancy is.  But just because you got an early positive, it doesn't at all mean that you'll have a chemical pregnancy!  Especially if it was an obvious (not super faint) positive.

Anyway, congratulations are definitely in order!  You are pregnant!  Don't stress about the possibility of a chemical pregnancy...chances are you won't have one.  I pray that you have a happy and healthy pregnancy!  Best of luck!

I HAVEN'T HEARD  OF THAT..

I THINK THAT IF YOU GOT A POSITIVE RESULT IN BOTH TEST THEN YOU ARE PREGNANT....

I have never heard of that before! i would not worry! U got a + pg test so go out and celebrate:) If your TOO concerened call your OB's office. but honestly i have never heard of what u said. Having a strong + pg test that early is GOOD!!!

I was irregular, so I didn't know when to test and it turns out I took my 1st positive hpt when I was only 3 weeks pregnant.  As of now I'm 8 weeks and everything looks good.  Call your doc and tell them you had a positive test and she should be able to answer your questions.

with my son i got a positive 6 days before my missed period.  he is a healthy 9 month old.

If you tested positive you are pregnant. If you were having a chemical pregnancy your test wouldnt of shown up positive (I dont think) b.c your HCG only doubles when your egg implants.

I have never heard that!  I tested 9 dpo's (which is 5 days before my period was due) and I was pregnant!!!  So honestly, I think YOU ARE PG!

So congrats to you.  Call your ob for a blood test to confirm!
