Question:

Positive turned to negative - Pregnant?

Basically I've been taking the contraceptive pill for the past five months, and always had a weeks break when due, and every time my period has come on within 2/3 days of starting my break. This last month, admittedly, I've slipped up and missed a few pills from the pack. I finished my last packet 15 days ago - and didn't get my period. So rather than start taking them again after 7 days I waited to see if I got one - so far nothing.

I took a pregnancy test yesturday, early evening, and initially after about 30 seconds the faintest positive line came up. It was very very faint, and barely visible, but there. However, after about 2/3 minutes this faded to a negative line. What does this mean?! I do have another test to take - but would you recommend taking it first thing tomorrow morning, or waiting a week or so? I'm very confused!

  1. I don't know if I would wait two weeks to take another test.  I would do it tomorrow morning,

  2. I would go ahead and take it again tommorrow morning, my first test was a little faint too, but the next one was a clear positive.

  3. well some test turn negative a few minutes after the fact.. but if you got a positive line then i would definitly go to the doctor to get some blood work done.. its the earliest detection.. but if you want to wait a few days or a week or two.. maybe you could take another test... every day your pregnant your levels get higher and higher and are more easily detected..

  4. Well, I'm now 9 weeks pregnant....and the same thing happened to me! The postive line was barely there.....then I took another the next morning and I got the same results! So on May 12(the day after mother's day) I went to the doctor.....and the results were positive! Good Luck!!!

  5. The first thing your doc or nurse would  ask is how many days since your last period. So ask yourself that. If you're past due, a preg test first thing in the am should tell you for sure, but if it's unclear or you can't wait, just go to your doc and get a blood test to be sure. BC pills can really mess up your system, I know they did with mine. Personally I found other methods that don't jerk me around so much or kill a baby I might accidentaly conceive. Good luck.

  6. You have to read the directions very carefully. In my experience the instructions have always stated that after a certain amount of time to disregard the test.  For instance, after peeing on the stick you wait the recommended time Example : 2-3 minutes then read the test that would be your answer... after 5-10 minutes the test would be void and  can be inaccurate. I would test again to be sure.  good luck.  Every test is different so read your specific instruction booklet.

  7. That's a negative result you got.  Wait two weeks, then if the result is still negative, you are definitely not pregnant.  I think that what has happened is that the missed pills have messed things up, hence your missed pill withdrawal bleed.  But you can't rule out pregnancy until another 2 weeks have passed.

  8. take another test tomo morning....if this happenes again , go to a dr.

  9. Get a test that says pregnant/not pregnant then you won't have to guess.
