Question:

Possible Glass in my Eye?

I think I may have gotten a small piece of a glass light bulb in my eye. I flushed it out with the shower head, and although my eye doesn't hurt, it is a little irritated and a little red. I went to an optometrist and they put a stain in my eye and then looked at it with a light and said he couldn't see any glass. Would an ophthalmologist do anything different? Or do you think the optometrist was probably correct in believing that my eye is ok? Is it normal for my eye to be a little irritated from flushing it with water?

  1. I'm sure it's just irritation but if I were you i would see the doctor just in case. You never know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. if there was glass in your eye, you would definitely know. your eye is very sensitive, even to eyelashes; imagine what a shard of glass would feel like. i'm not saying that you may not have something in your eye, but i doubt there's glass. i would try an ophthalmologist to see what's wrong, but be specific in how it feels and what it looks like, etc. if you just tell them you think you have glass in your eye, they'll check, say you don't, then send you away.
