Question:

Possible Reckless Driving Charge?

I was going 101mph in a 70mph when I was pulled over (31 over). The LEO did not write me down as reckless driving and for the most part I think it will just go as 5 points on my license. Is this true or is going over a certain limit an automatic reckless driving, that the LEO just didn't write down (I know in some states if you go over a certain limit, it is automatically reckless driving).

I live in TN and was pulled over in TN.

  1. If it was your first ticket I would try to get a lawyer and get the ticket reduced. If you insurance company runs a check on you and sees it they will probably drop you.See if you can get into traffic school to lose the points.I believe anything over 15 is considered reckless. Not sure though

  2. The fact that it was put down as 31 over the limit instead of 29 over should tell you something.  It does not look good I am afraid.  Be prepared to see your insurance premiums double.

  3. If it was in a civilised country they would have locked you up and trashed your car, then banned you from driving for two years minimum..

  4. If he handed you a citation for speeding, I'm pretty sure if you were getting charged with that too it would have been a separate ticket. I'm not POSITIVE, but probably.

& also your insurance will go up drastically. My premium went up around $90.00 for going 16mph over the posted limit & I got four points on my license.
