Question:

Possible Spinal Tap Side effects? Not sure... HELP?

So I had a spinal tap done exactly four weeks ago. I woke up today with no fever, my eyes were blurry and stinging that's all. I took tylenol and some sudafed for my allergies but it seemed to make it worse. All of the sudden I began to feel pretty bad. My body felt tired and it felt like a fever was coming on or was already there. I took my temperature and sure enough I had a temp of 100.8. I took it again and it had gone down to 100.6 My normal body temp is 97.3

So I took so more Tylenol, not too much, and my fever kept climbing. I started to get pain in my upper back and my mom came by to drop off some motrin to see if that would help... Now it went up to 102.3 after taking the motrin. I've waited an hour since taking 400 MG's of motrin and not only does my back hurt all the way down to my legs, but my fever has gone up.

I know a lot of you are going to tell me to go to the hospital but it just strikes me as weird that tylenol and motrin aren't bringing down the fever even one degree, in fact it's going up and my eye sight is blurry and my back is killing me. My head does not hurt, just my eyes.

  1. Yes. It sounds like meningitis. Stiff neck? Light hurts your eyes? Thrown up? It may not be meningitis, but it is definitely a problem and potential complication.

You really need to go to the hospital.

What you don't know is it might be bringing it down one degree, but it's going up two, so what you see is it going up one.

Also, in an infection that's bad enough, your body's system will over-ride any medication that you will be taking. I had meningitis as a complication from a shunt, and I ended up with a fever of 104 on both Tylenol and Motrin.
