Possible Time Travel Theory?

Question

Perhaps one time travel theory goes as follows:

If someone went back in time, unlike the present which is live, the past has already happened and is done with. Which means when going back to the past, you'll be able to observe and everything, but the people around you won't see or hear you. Therefore you won't be able to change anything if you tried, because nobody can see or hear you.

I believe all the Scrooge movies used this theory.

of course, anything involving time travel is merely conjecture, due to the fact that if anyone has time traveled, they were not believed, or they did not report the results publicly.

I don't think this option is possible. What if you touch someone in the past? If you would pass through people, then you would pass through the ground, you would not be able to walk around. What if you were standing in the path of where someone was walking? Would they go through you like a ghost, or would they kill you?

This concept is sketchy. Perhaps you can work out the details and give us a way this is possible.

Yes, any past that you would go to would be a parallel past. That is to say that it would not be the past that ends up becoming our present. Time is fascinating. Right now it is the present for me. It is the past for you as you're reading this message, yet you're reading this message in the future, relative to 'when' I am now.

i agree that this would be as possible a theory as anything else.

also it would be pretty cool.

as much as i would love to go back and change alot of stuff i dont know the impact it would a have on the present so maybe it would be better if we couldnt change the past.

note--although i dont think time travel, at least in the way people think will ever be possible.

time is placed on this carbon based universe like the grooves of a record, the thing is to jump in between the grooves without scratching the record...

It is really impossible to answer this fully, it all depends on what time is and whether it is a property in the universe that is created and runs like a film, each second being a slide, or if it is a thing we humans only interpret to better understand the laws of change.  

if time frames can exist after the moment happened, your atoms may not agree with the universe in the past. because the universe is constantly expanding and therefore changing, there is no garauntee that your atoms will be compatable with the past universe, unless you existed in that time yourself. it would be possible to go back to the past to see your past self but whether your future state can interact with your past state is not certain. time ravel is a very recent development in science, we are not going to travel through time anytime soon.

if time is a state of the mind it would only take a few thoughts to go back to your childhood, if you have a good memory, and see your past. it would'nt be time travell but in a way our minds act like time capsules and if time is just a measurment we use to monitor change then that's as near as it gets to time travel.
