Question:

Possible addition to the Big Bang?

Could Black holes be a key to the beginning and and end to our universe? Black holes absorbing black holes till there is just one left and it collapses apron itself with nothing to pull from, maybe creating another Big bang, staring the process all over again? Each time adding a new charm or even a smaller energy source for a new universe to work with, making it just a little larger but still on the same path as its ancestors. Can mathematics work with this idea? Is this old news? May I name it the Manis theory? LOL

  1. Won't happen.  Stars are faaar too widely separated to get all sucked in to one black hole.  Further, the universe is expanding and looks to continue to do so forever.  As such there will be no Big Crunch.  The universe will end with a whimper, not a bang.

  2. You're talking about "The big Crunch", and idea put forth in the 60's, which came about when it was realized that the "big bang" may not have had enough power to keep the matter in the universe from flying apart indefinitely.   After one "Big Crunch" another "Big Bang" might occur, spawning another complete, different universe (or multiple universes) time after time after time.

  3.   If a black hole could exist it would eventually absorb all the matter in the universe and sit doing nothing for eternity.

  4. I don't know anything of the math that predicts space/time or black holes. But I think what you've said is certainly interesting.

Think about the surface tension of water. I think of gravity a something floating upon the surface of time, leaving an indentation in it. I think of Black Holes as a point where the surface is stretched so far, it appears as if there's no space there now at all. It would be interesting to see what would happen if the surface tension of time broke. And I assume eventually, it has to happen.  What would we see here? The black hole and its gravitational effect would simple vanish. Where would it go? Back to the beginning of time? Would it feed back to the big bang?

Sorry I can't answer your question but at least I gave you more food for black holes.

  5. i thought you meant the korean band, Big Bang.
