Question:

Possible allergic reaction to mascara?

I recently bought a new mascara, it's called "Define a lash" by Maybeline. I used it a couple times, and the last two times I've worn it, the next day my eye lids were red and puffy, only on my right eye (I removed my make up before going to bed). It's now been 3 days since I last wore the mascara, and the skin on my upper and lower lids is peeling and it itches and burns. Is this an allergic reaction? And what can I do to treat the symptoms?

  1. I had that happen from mascara, too. I'm allergic to Dior Diorshow Mascara. I went to the doctor, and she gave me some medicine for my eye. You should probably go to the doctor, too. They can tell you if it's an allergic reaction or an infection.

  2. Do not use that mascara anymore! You are severely allergic to that formula. Allergies to mascara are actually really common. Usually it's just minor discomfort when using a new kind of mascara. You might want to avoid that brand if it happens again with another type of mascara from that brand.

  3. Well actually it is possible. Once when I wore mascara my eye got all red and was infected. SO it can actually be possible, or you're just allergic to that kind. See a doctor and ask him

  4. You should go to a doctor it could be that you have an eye infection and the fact that you used a new mascara is merely coincidence.
