Possible destinations for Gareth Bale (Part 2)
FC Barcelona
Another star studded Spanish side that likes to be linked with every super star on the planet. The Catalans aren't short of left sided players, In Maxwell and Eric Abidal they have two of the finest left backs in the sport. Moving further up the field, Blaugrana
have Andres Iniesta on the left side of the Barca attacking trident. Iniesta is one of the top five players in the world without a shadow of doubt and even Bale, for all his talents, cannot replace the Catalan fan favourite.
A Potential transfer to Barcelona will also be hampered by the fact that Barca have recently revealed austere amounts of debt. Pep Guardiola is highly unlikely to spend a significant amount on a player, except of course, Francesc Fabregas. Catalan’s are
biding time till their prodigal son returns home. A bid for Bale would come in the way of a ‘Cescy’ transfer, something Barcelona will not live with, not for another season.
Inter Milan
Improving on an already treble winning side can be frustratingly different. However, Gareth Bale has the quality to do just that. Nerazzuri are not the all conquering mean machine that featured under Mourinho, not anymore, Not under Rafa Benitez. The defence
has already shown signs of creaking. The Marauding Maicon was schooled to embarrassment by Bale himself. Maicon’s fall from grace has been so alarming; many already declare him a finished player.
Inter have a young prodigy of their own in Davide Santon. The right footed wing back has predominantly featured on the left of the Inter Defence. However, Santon’s natural position is one the opposite flank. Should Inter manage to sign the Welsh talent from
Spurs, he will slot in to left of the defence while Santon will take up his favourite right back position. Such turn of events will demote Maicon to the bench. Maicon has been the best full back in the world for the past couple of seasons but judging by his
recent form, he shouldn’t really complain.
Nerazzuri are no short of funds, Massimo Moratti will break the bank for this gem and should Redknapp decide to cash-in on the player, San Siro will be one of the most likely destinations.
Juventus FC
Bianconeri defensive woes are well documented. The club has been frantically looking for quality players for the past couple of seasons but to no avail. With a talented yet immature Marco Motta on the right, Juve now look for a world class left back. In
Gareth Bale, they have the perfect answer. Juventus is of the biggest and most prestigious clubs in the world, a club fitting enough for Bales’ talent.
Should Juventus manage to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, Bianconeri will definitely bid for the Tottenham crown jewel. Whether Redknapp decides to cash-in or not is a completely different question altogether.
AC Milan
Of all the teams being linked with Bale, Rossoneri need him the most. The club has struggled to find a decent left sided defender ever since legendary Paolo Maldini moved into the centre of defence. Luca Antonini plays as the left back for Davioli, a fact
that goes a long way in showing the lack of quality Milan have in the full back areas. Bale would hit the ground at San Siro. He would clearly relish playing alongside the likes of Ronaldinho and Robinho – who wouldn’t?
Milan CEO Adriano Galliani recently revealed that the club had been monitoring the player while he was at Southampton. The club was reluctant in gambling on a British player and Tottenham duly snapped up the youngster. As things stand, Milan finds the player
growing beyond their financial means. Silvio Berlusconi continuously refuses to invest in the club but if the trip to Santiago Bernabeau has revealed anything, it’s the fact that Milan need full back covering before they can even dream of continental success.
Even though Milan’s monetary issues will hamper a potential deal, one must not bet against Galliani pulling a rabbit out of his wizardly hat – remember Ronaldinho and Robinho?
