Question:

Possible early miscarriage?? Not sure.. ?

Hi everyone,

I am wondering if this sounds normal, or could it have possibly been an early miscarriage? (very early)

My period started on August 26th, as anticipated, but two weeks prior to AF, I had cramping every day and lower back pain which continued up until AF started & then normal, more severe, AF cramps started. My periods only last 4-5 days maximum.. it is now the TENTH day since I've started my period! I am going through pads and tampons like they're going out of style!

Also, for a couple days prior to AF.. there was brown stuff.. I never get that. Oh, and it was weird too because a few days ago (which would've been about 6 or 7 days into my period) I suddenly had excruciating cramps through the night.. enough that I had to put the heating pad on my abdominal area, and take pain meds to try and take the edge off. Usually, my AF cramps only last a day.. the day that AF starts.

So this whole cycle has been unusually strange & different. But my main concern now is that I've been bleeding for TEN days, and it doesn't seem to be getting any lighter.

I called gyno office today.. at about 3 pm (they don't close until 4) and there was no answer so I left a message.. they haven't called back. Maybe they will tomorrow.

Thanks for any answers.. I've never experienced this before so that's why I'm concerned..

  1. Hey im sorry your feeling badly.  I am kinda going thru the same except I had a positive test on o8/27 then started bleeding on the 30th, now I have been told by the ER dr's that it is a threatened m/c  My hcg was low just 23, I would have only been maybe four weeks pregnant.  I am now waiting for my second blood test to comeback.  I guess the second number confirms the m/c.  You should get in to see a dr, or even go to the er, they can take blood to see if you are or were pregnant that way you know for sure.  good luck to you!

  2. It does sound like it could be a miscarriage, although I'm not sure miscarriages are that painful so early on. Your doctor should be able to tell you more. I'm glad you called before asking here, like most people do!

  3. I say go to the ER and not wait for the doc to call you back.  Make sure you are drinking plenty fluids also.
