So i recently installed a copy of windows xp pro on my new computer that i built.. after the full install.. the first thing i noticed that my NIC card wasnt showing up in device manager.. I installed my other nic card from my other comp and it worked... for gaming i play counter strike and half life multiplayer.. when i first started playing after the new install i jumped in an HL server.. everything was running smoothly. after being in the server for about 10 minutes i start feeling these sudden jolts against my character.. like i'd be walking, or in the middle of a jump and i would kind of keep freezing for a split second.. so i figured it was a connection problem so i let it ride for bit.. but as i kept playing in the server i noticed the jolts kept getting heavier and more frequent.. i then finally unplugged my ethernet chord and waited about an hour to try it again.. i go into a server,, and my guns are shootin all fast, i mean my effin pistol was shooting out like a 9mmar..seemed as though it had gotten 5x worse.. So i created a server to see what would happen.. and i wasnt getting the jolting or anything, my character was just going about 4X the normal speed.. including walking, jumping, shooting.. etc... so i'm guessing that why i get the jolting during an internet game is because my character is moving too fast and steam is trying to slow me down... because when i create my own server.. my guns shoot really fast and i walk fast.. but no jolting.. does anyone know why this might be doing this? i talked to my one friend and he said it's probably a setting in windows xp that you have to set to a lower speed.. but i dunno, i've never had this prob until now.. and i've been playing cs/hl for 8 years now.. thanks guys
