Question:

Possible nose piercing problem?

So, I got my nose pierced earlier today and it's kinda weirding me out a little. I went to the bathroom to clean it, but when I looked in the mirror, I noticed it was bleeding. It didn't bleed much after it was pierced, just one or two drops, so I was surprised to see it's bleeding now. And I've also go my navel, eyebrow, and cartilage done and none of them ever bled after the initial piercing. It also looks like the stud is sitting kind of sideways, like straight up instead of flat against the nose which makes it look like the back of the stud is kind of in the hole. So, is that normal, the bleeding and the position of the stud, or should I be worried about the stud slipping into the hole or something? I guess I'm worried because five years ago when I got my navel done, my top ball started going through the hole because I was sleeping on it. But other than that, I've never had problems with my piercings, no infections or anything.

  1. sounds like whomever is piercing you isn't doing a very good job. sleeping on your naval should never have forced the ball into the piercing. and if its off angled it just means that the piercer was off angled too.  bleeding is normal.

  2. i got my nose pierced about two weeks ago . it bled after i pierced it but thats only because i took the earring out so i can put in another one . its fine now though =]

  3. it should be fine sometimes piercings can bleed after the initial pierce if it continues to bleed though i doubt it put some ice on it it will kinda freeze your blood just make sure your not pulling or tugging  on it.

  4. So I used to work in a tattoo parlor, and I have my nose pierced, so I gotta say that your nose bleeding a little bit, well after you got it pierced, is normal. Over the next few days, it's not unusual to experience a little random bleeding. As long as it's not bleeding heavily you should be ok.

Judging from your description of the way the stud went a bit off kilter, I'm going to guess that the bar on the nose stud is a bit long, probably to leave room for swelling. I still have the original stud in my nose, and half the time it's sticking way off of my nose, but I just need to go get it re-bent so it'll be shorter. With yours, it's normal, and it's a good idea to have some extra room in case it swells really large.

It shouldn't be a problem due to the piercing angle, and the stud is really not going to slip into the hole. You'd have to pull very hard on the other end of the stud to get it to do that, and you'd notice, cause it would hurt like blazes.

Over all, sounds like you're having a totally normal experience, even though it seems a bit weird, but if you're ever noticing that something seems off, don't hesitate to contact your piercer, who should be more than happy to take a look and answer your questions.
