Question:

Possible pregnancy 8 years after tubal ligation?

A couple of months ago I began to wonder if I were pregnant, then i shrugged it off because I had my period. Well, this month after my period I have felt fluttering and kicking sort of movements in my lower abdomen. I have taken a pregnancy test which has showed negative. Although I have had 5 beautiful children and am familiar with the symptoms of pregnancy I haven't had those symptoms as before, only a few. I am wondering if I could be pregnant anyway. The concern I have is the movements I feel which are similar to being pregnant at approximately 4 months. It is really weird. Any suggestions on what the movement could be (and no it is not a bowel movement)? I usually feel these movements when I am still or laying down.

  1. my recommendation to you is to go to a doctor and get a blood test! It is possible to get pregant after a tubal ligation because sometimes they do reverse themselves but whats worse is getting pregnant in your tubes which also happens and if that is the case you have to see a doctor right away because that kind of pregnancy could be fatal for YOU! so go to a doctor right away eve if you arent pregnant at least you could have some piece of mind to know you are safe!!

  2. i would go to the doctor my aunt had 5 kids. 4 boys 1 girl then she had her tubes tide then 9 years later she had another boy ( not sure what she did ) then 4 years later another boy. Then she my uncle got separate rooms.

  3. Anything is possible.  I have heard that tubal ligations can reverse themselves.  Go to the doc for a blood test to put your mind at ease.  If you're not pregnant, be sure to see a specialist to figure out what is going on.  Good luck!

  4. I would feel the same thing when I had my iud in. I asked my dr. and he said it was probably just gas bubbles...even though I didnt have gas...weird but it totally felt like a baby kicking though.

oh and my mom had her tubes tied after she had a baby at 42 and later found out the dr. accidentally tied a muscle on one side instead of her tube.

  5. You could be. I know I had flutterings before I even knew I was pregnant. The best thing to do would be to go see a doctor and get a blood test done. They are more accurate than urine tests.

  6. The pregnancy test should be positive if you are pregnant, but maybe you should see a doctor for a blood test just to be sure.

I came across some information about bowel and colon spasms when my baby started kicking me in the rear- I was wondering if it really was the baby (this is my first) or something else. Basically it's where a portion of your lower intestine goes into fluttering sort of spasms that feel like baby movement. It's not a bowel movement, but rather a twitching in that internal organ in your stomach. Here's a website that doesn't say much of use:
