Possible segregation in my school.?

I am a high school student in a small high school in ohio. In my school it is an offense punishable by suspension to publicly demonstrate certain political symbols, most controversy takes place around the swastika and the hammer and sickle. The reasoning by the school is that those symbols are offensive to some people in school.

I am personally russian and communist and take great pride in my heritage some of my friends are german and had ancestors that were n***s. Argument my friend made is that while it is prohibited to display our symbols (hammer and sickle for me) it is ok to display the american flag or the eagle which is offensive to us.

So far we have been taking some actions like refusing to stand up for the pledge of allegiance, public displays of our heritage with flags and banners out side of the school, and several strikes. But useless and we sometimes get in trouble.

My group of friend is considering to take this issue to court.

Tell me what you think, and some suggestion.

BY THE WAY the goal is no to support n***s but in general allow us to express our heritage. I can see why school is against swastikas but why not allow the hammer and sickle or the korean symbol.

  1. Well, first of all hammer and sickle has nothing to do with swastika. You should educate those people that hammer represents working class people and sickle represents agricultural workers. Soviet Union win the World War II under the red flag with the hammer and sickle. They were fighting against n***s to save Russian nation and many other nations in Europe. So, hammer and sickle is complitly opposite simbol to swastika.

You should tell those arogent and closed minded people, they need better education !!!

  2. um, i don't know what the hammer and sickle symbol is, sorry, i probally do, but i'm sick and can't think.

anyway, there's no rule stating u must stand for the pledge. my history teacher told us that last year, and i sure as h**l don't.

    and what's swastikas?

anyway, if the symbols are those that can be used to repersent hate, then rightfully they shouldn't be displayed in the states, unless it's of the states. americans are just like that, sorry.

and as someone said, ur in america. or so it appears as such from ur Q and all, so yeah, double standards and *********, deal with it or leave. i'm leaving.

i dout taking it to court will do much good, sorry.

  3. I honestly don't think that the Swastika should be displayed in school, just because it has so many negative associations.  There are probably students in that school who's grandparents or great grandparents experienced the Holocaust.  But if you use the fact that the Swastika is (believe it or not) technically an ancient Hindu, Buddhist and Jainist symbol and had nothing to do with violence at all (it was actually a pattern used in basket weaving and religious images), you could make a good appeal.  Apart from that, I don't see any reason why the hmammer and sickle symbol cannot be displayed.  The Communist party is real and there are indeed many followers.  It seems just as logical as being permitted to wear a shirt depicting an elephant or donkey.  There is nothing wrong with not standing up for the pledge, as I know multiple students who choose not to.  Another option for anybody who does not want to take as extreme measures is to simply not say certain offending parts of the pledge.  Both are perfectly allowed and accepted.

  4. Well hun. you are in America..the American flag shouldn't offend you.Just like I shouldn't be offended by the hammer & sickle or any other symbol if I was in any other country.

I don't think people should display symbols of hate..heritage or not.But other symbols are worth testing.

I doubt taking the issue to court will get your friend anywhere.

If you have a problem, do some research OR write out the background of the symbol you want to show off and present it to the principal...if it doesn't have anything to do with hate or disrespect then you shouldn't have a problem.

My son's dad is Russian and his family is more about the importance of the culture rather than symbols and such.

    To each their own.

  5. Go to court its rude! I live in a small town and I understand!
