My husband has had a sore throat for about 4 or 5 months now. He has gone to emergency care places 3 times. They gave him antibiotics twice and it did not help. The third time they set up a appointment with a ENT. He ended up seeing a physicians assistant (whom the office said had the same training as the doctor) because the doctors office who set up the appointment gave us the wrong time. The pa performed a scope and said she did not see signs of cancer, but his throat was very red. She said he has acid reflux and gave him a lot of nexium. They are 40 mg and she told him to take one in morning and one in evening. It has been a week and still his throat is hurting him very badly. He does not believe he has acid reflux, he thinks (knows) that he has throat cancer. Also he just stopped dipping tobacco) 3 weeks ago due to the pain. He has dipped for 24 years. If you or someone you know was diagnosed with throat cancer, can you tell me what test was done to diagnose?
