I'm 16 Years old. I'm not really a roller coaster person. I have been on a few big ones before nothing ever happened. Anyway i'm goin to six flags on friday and I'm wondering what are the chances of getting a heart attack/stroke on any high speed roller coaster?

My Conditions:

No heart/neurological problems/diseases

I do have allergies (Most mild and are things like animals such as dogs. Dust is the only one that can probably be considered for six flags)

Blood Pressure= Normal

5'9 160 lbs.

  1. yes, if you are over 60 years of age

  2. you are not gonna die, don't be afraid ,feels awesome ,try it!!

PD:what could happen is throw everything up :P

  3. If you already have a heart problem, then the g-force produced by many roller coasters could lead to heart failure.

It is possible that you could have a heart condition and not be aware of it.  That might lead to your unexpected death, as it has on very rare occasions with roller coaster riders.

If you have had a thorough medical checkup including EKG, MRI, Stress Tests and the doctors gave you a clean bill of health, then I'd say you have no heart condition.  The mere fact that you haven't had a heart attack doesn't mean you have no heart condition.  Most folks don't "know" they have heart problems until something happens.

  4. Since you are young and don't have any problems, than why would you die from a heart attack? A person died on Dinosaur at the Animal Kingdom, but they were older. They had a heart attack. A person died at a waterpark in the wavepool. The same thing goes for them.

They were older, and a lot of older can't take this stuff like the younger people. The older people haven't been on this stuff in so long, and just can't take it anymore.

I think if you are older, and you keep on going to the amusement park all your life, you would be completely fine. But let's to go to Disney World, and I haven't been on a thrilling ride in 40 years, and it can lead to bad stuff happening if you choose to go on it.

  5. If you have no serious pre-existing health conditions, then there is no reason to believe that it would be dangerous for you to ride a roller coaster.  The stories you will hear about people passing out seriously ill or dying on a roller coaster are nearly always due to some pre-existing condition.

That being said, if you're super-nervous, there's no reason for you to feel like you HAVE to ride anything.  But if you're willing to give it a try... I bet you'll have a great time :-)

  6. the odds are millions to one.

people do die on rollercoasters, but only rarely.  most deaths are from pre-existing conditions.  you'll be fine.

    :o)
