Possible to dive blue hole, belize when staying in cancun, mexico?

Question

Hey, im staying in Cancun from 26th June 08 for 2 weeks and im looking to do some scuba diving (im a qualified open water diver).

Is it possible to get down to belize to dive the blue hole?

Any other diving info around cancun and mexico would be good thx

Fly to Belize City and get a very expensive dive tour out of there.   Local diving is a much better idea - at least much easier

Other answerers are correct.The Blue Hole is certainly worth seeing and diving but not from Cancun.You only need to catch the ferry to Cozumel from Cancun or Playa for a world class diving destination. Save Belize for a another time.

Palancar Reef is a large coral reef located on the southwest side of Cozumel. The site is very popular with scuba divers and is divided into several sections based on depth & coral formations. Dive depths range from 50 to 110 feet, with coral swim-throughs located in many places.Just one of many dive sites off the islands S.W. side.You wont be disappointed.

It would be over 300 miles there and 300 miles back--I don't think you'll find anyone that will want to do that (but for the right amount of money, anything is possible).  If it were me, I'd wait until you take a trip to Belize.  There's plenty of great diving up and down the Riviera Maya.
