I'm 16 and have a love for films and acting.

I'm not a child star or anything, I'm just a dreamer that hopes to at least give it a shot when I turn 18.

My problem is that, which is very conceded of me to say, is that I have a little over slight gap between my teeth. This along with other minor things make me feel like I couldn't make it in a society where everyone's looks are flawless.

Anyone believe that i could still amke a decent living acting, with the facts that I have given you?

Also, any guidance as of what do do to take my first step in the right direction when I turn 18? or even now?

  6. Here's where I think you really need to focus in on if you have ambitions to make it in Hollywood - there are tens of thousands of pretty people with little talent who dream of making it in Hollywood, and there's only so much room in our culture for a collection of young Hollywood heartthrobs.  Unless your look is really classically handsome or in some way overly charismatic and appealing to the audience, there isn't much of a shot for any particular young hopeful actor to break through or even to make it through the auditions on his look alone.  As an actor, you have to develop convincing personalities, showcasing flexibility, believability and confidence in the roles you perform.  An unattractive actor with skill is much more valuable and hireable than an attractive face with little going on behind it.  Focus less on your look and more on your art.  Especially perfecting the way you use body language, facial expressions, and if you have a slight gap in your teeth, how to use that to add character to your roles or how to minimalize it to fit a role where you'd avoid having it.

Instead, work on developing personality types and mastering control of facial expressions and body language, develop this part of your acting, which you can control and manipulate and master, until you have such a comfort with it that producers, directors and scouts are putting you on their short list of favorites.  Personality plays a big role in who gets through.  While a lot of actors may look the part, the best actors are those who eminate a feel to the character, and convince us that they were made for the part.  So practice your varying roles and character types, be so comfortable with them that it's difficult for friends to know when you're acting or for strangers to believe that you aren't sincere.

The facts that you have given (a slight gap between your teeth) isn't helpful at all to make an honest evaluation.  But I suggest you hone your skills in drama classes, acting clubs, during your spare time, and try to join like-minded young actors in your community and perfect your skills.  When you're ready for Hollywood, you'll at least have some experience under your belt to give you a fighting chance.

  7. No worries what so ever!

Actors come in all shapes and sizes. The important thing is that you are skilled at your craft. So do a lot of community theater and everything else you can think of, you certainly don't have to wait until you are 18. You can start right now!
