Question:

Possible to put insulation in the walls without removing them?

If I can't access the outer walls from the attic and I don't want to tear them all out (and there is no insulation in there currently), is it possible to add insulation? I was thinking maybe there is some trick that required only making a small hole in the walls, between each set of studs, and "pouring" it in. Maybe something like an expandable foam that hardens once its shot into the hole.

  1. there are companies that blow in insulation exactly as you described, they drill a small hole, blow it in and seal the hole.

  2. Yes that will do it, drill on the topmost then pour the resin, then drill holes on other areas just to check if it is reached by the resin.

  3. Almost exactly as you describe.  You use a drill to make a hole in the wall, about 3 inches in circumference between each stud.  You'll need to do the same under each window.

There is stuff that blows in from an aerosol can.  It takes forever, but your walls will be insulated.

The stuff will swell up and bulge out of the hole, after a few days, use a razor to clean that spot up by making the insulation part even with the wall............then use plaster to cover the insulation.....then paint the walls to all match or cover with paneling or wall paper.

    Good Luck

  4. There are 'blow in' fiber insulations, and injected foam

insulations that can answer your requirements.

The situation determines which is best.
