Question:

Possible to the honeymoon thing goin'?

The other night, my husband and I were visiting some older friends. We told them that my husband had been on holidays for the last two weeks.

The man said, "You must be getting sick of him hanging around you, eh?"

I said, "No, I love having him around."

The man said, "That's because you're in your honeymoon stage. After a while, you won't be able to wait for him to get away."

Then the wife complained, "Yeah, he always wants me to go for coffee with him. And I want him to get some friends or something."

I love being with my husband, and don't want that feeling to end. I love spending time with him! Sure, time to myself is nice, too, but I appreciate the time with him so much.

I felt like the couple were so cynical about love, and assumed that all women get sick of their men being around, after a few years of marriage.

My husband and I have both agreed that we want to work at keeping that honeymoon stage as long as we're together.

Think it's possible to keep the honeymoon thing goin'?? ( I DO!!!)

  1. Don't listen to them.........I have been married for 32 years......and my husband and I love spending time together.

We sit on the sofa and hold hands and hug just like we did when we were first married.......or maybe more.

The fiery passion of making love diminishes, but, the love is still there, and that is what holds the marriage together.

If I had a choice as to whom I wanted to spend my free time with..............It would be my husband.

Don't get me wrong we don't always agree on everything, and we do get on each other nerves, but it is only momentarily, nothing that a hug cannot cure.

    Enjoy, and God Bless You.

  2. Sure, it's possible.  It can become easy to feel lost in a marriage if you don't have friends or time alone outside of one another.  It sounds as if you both respect one another's need for personal space so that shouldn't be a problem for you.  Don't let the other couple bring you down.  I would venture to guess that there might have been a little exaggeration going with her as well.  Just live life with your husband as it works best for the two of you.  That's all that really matters.

  3. Dream on.  Real life kicks in.

  4. i do too!  i definitely think it's possible to keep the honeymoon going!  my husband and i have been married for six years and stick pretty close together. we are flexible with giving eachother our space when needed/wanted ... i guess the hard thing about it is that when i want some space, i feel guilty asking for it, and vice versa.  usually, though, we can pretty much tell when the other needs some time to him/herself and we give eachother that needed space - no questions asked.
