I might be going camping next weekend. I have been back and fourth. I am worried a little about the cold. We are sleeping inside a tent, the baby sleeps with us (extra body heat) and the other thing I am worried about is the mosquitos. Are there any baby safe mosquito repellents out there? I know the regular ones are a for sure no no.

Also whats your opinion...would you go? It is only two nights? Please don't be rude.

Thanks!

  1. I would also like to know about this, before I had a baby we went camping nearly every weekend, since the birth, we havent been once.. and our daughter is now 12months old...due to not knowing what our daughter will be like, She has never slept in bed with us, and when we bring her in sometimes late at night when she isnt settled, she just jumps all over us, so we arent sure what to do... id love to go camping again soon, and i dont want my daughter to miss out. Also what do people use to put their baby in whislt camping (seat?) and did you have a fire, and if so, how did you keep the baby away from all the smoke.... I hope you get an answer to this question, i realy miss my outdoor adventures!!!

  2. no on the baby safe mosquito repellent

yes we took our 4 month old camping for 3 days and had a blast, we slept in a tent and baby slept with us (no problems)

if your worried about temp make sure to bring a few changes of warm clothing

  3. I don't see what would be wrong w/taking your baby camping. I would take lots of blankets & just check w/a ped doc to find out what repellents are ok cuz I hv never used them & I hv 4 kids

  4. I just went camping last month and my baby was 1 1/2 months old at the time.  It can get cold so just make sure you take plenty of warm clothes to put your baby in.  Have a onies on underneath your babies clothes.  Put socks on your baby even if the clothes have footsies on them.  Have a cap for your baby to wear.

You don't need mosquito repellent for your baby.  Just have long sleeves and pants on your baby all the time.  Your most likely going to be holding your baby the whole time or someone else is.  Who ever is holding the baby will be able to keep any buzzing pests away from him/her.

It's really not all that hard to go camping with a baby.  Just make sure you take about 5 extra outfits because you never know if your baby will have a blow out down below if you know what I mean.  Also take more diapers than you think you will actually use.  I ran out on the last day and we had to hurry home.

Just have fun and take plenty of blankets. Have a good time and don't stress.

  5. I would not take the baby. That just me personally though I know many people do I just don't think its the place for such a small baby.

  6. I personaly would not take a 2 month old baby camping. It's simply too young.

  7. Just be careful sleeping so close when it is cold. Maybe you can make the baby his own "safe" warm space between you? They also make little mosquito nets that I have seen used on strollers.
