Possum--how can I get rid of one in California without killing him?

Hav-a-Hart makes the humane traps.  We have several in various sizes.  Take the opossum at least 10 miles away so it doesn't come back.

Wish we got opossums.  All we get are pack rats, rabbits and the neighbors' dogs that the coyotes scare into the yard.

Just locate him to another area.

call the police or animal control and ask for a trap, set it with cat food or peanut butter, then let him loose in a spot near some water, like a stream or river.

we have lots of them living in our house and our dogs corner them. (my husband forgets to shut doors and they come in, drives me crazy) but a cage trap is best and it amy take a week to catch.

If you have a cat you can use the kitty litter you would have thrown away.  Leave little clumps of used kitty litter (Pissy smell-- not poopy smell) where the possum hangs out. It will chase him away. If you leave the kitty p**p the possum will eat it, -- really -- clumps of kitty pee will chase anything away.
