  1. well, it generally means putting all the elements together into one cohesive whole. structuring the story, pacing the film, taking scenes out that don't work, adding sound effects/refining sound effects, colour correction of the film especially if its not consistent, making film negatives and reels that would be used in theatres, usually the main bulk of the visual effects happens at this time (but usually it starts during production of the film or even before depending on the complexity of the shots) ADR (automatic dialogue recording, essentially looping an actor's voice so that it is sync with the film), recording the score for the film and generally for a mainstream film project, they go through audience testing which (supposedly) helps refine the film but is more a way of just concetrating the film on a particular market, there's probably more but i can't think of any (unless you include a film's marketing in that as well)

  2. It means that filming has finished and it's now being edited, having any special effects added, dubbing done, etc

  3. It's the term used to describe everything after the recording to the finished piece. All edits and enhancements.
